John was a member of the IBM Canada management team that created Celestica, now a world leader in the Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) industry, in the mid-1990s. During the evolution of Celestica from a single site in Toronto, to a global company with over 50 sites worldwide, John held various senior leadership roles in Operations, Business Development and Human Resources. He learned the Operational disciplines needed to create and grow a successful business in an industry characterized by razor thin margins and frequent product changes. As part of the Business Development team, he participated in multiple due diligence projects to study and select acquisition candidates, and led the team responsible for integrating acquired businesses.
While working full time John completed the Western University Ivey School of Business Executive MBA program in 1993.
After leaving Celestica in 2010 John became an independent consultant working on business acquisition integration projects, operational excellence initiatives, and supporting small businesses.
From mid-2019 to mid-2021 he was Client Services Officer on a Community Futures Development Corporation team, helping numerous small businesses get started and grow.
He has developed a deep respect and admiration for the people that take on the challenge and risk of creating a new business, and is committed to using his experience to help Equinox Power realize its full potential.
