Andrew is a distinguished electrical engineer with over fifteen years of dedicated experience in the field of advanced power electronics design and development. At the helm of Equinox Power's technical direction, Andrew played a crucial role in co-founding the company and spearheading the development and market introduction of pioneering power conversion technologies. His expertise in AC/DC, DC/DC, and modern resonant-based topologies, alongside his proficiency in DSP and microcontroller-based digital control of power converters, has played a significant role in enhancing the company's portfolio of intellectual property.
While at GAN Systems, Andrew engineered various power module applications that highlighted the performance benefits of Gallium Nitride (GaN) semiconductors, leading to the development of advanced thermal solutions for the datacom and telecom sectors. His leadership in design and commitment to customer support have been crucial to the company's innovative progress.
In his tenure with Murata Power Solutions, Andrew specialized in the development of high-power front-end power supplies for Datacom applications, utilizing cutting-edge wide band-gap devices such as SiC and GaN. His achievements include attaining 80 plus titanium level efficiency and pioneering in the design of high-performance magnetic devices, demonstrating his profound expertise in power electronics.
Before these roles, Andrew amassed significant research and development experience, notably as an Advanced Development Electrical Engineer at Alpha Technologies, which Enersys acquired in November 2018, and through his scholarly work at Queen's University. He obtained a Master of Applied Science in Electrical Engineering, focusing on Power Electronics. His thesis project made notable contributions to the field of energy harvesting power management systems.
